Luther Broome..aka newt .... 29 palms studio , Mojave desert, Ca.
My work is about adventure and exploration
FOR ME, IT'S ALL ABOUT THE PROCESS..........FUN , FuN ,fUn
My
first memory is of color. Red, yellow, and blue later became known as
the buttons on a ceramic clown cookie jar. While growing up in southern
California, I was exposed to vibrant colorful Latino Art, sixties
psychedelia, and pop culture imagery. When attending Otis Art Institute
in Los Angeles, CA, where I received my MFA, color dictated my painting
thesis.
The alchemy of color continues to direct my work. Light and hue become a metaphorical current to express emotion and content.

I bought ten acres in the Mojave desert community known as Wonder Valley to use as a test site for art
projects and a studio and home for my sculptor wife Cathy Allen and I. The shack is a homestead from the 50's
Wonder Valley Shack Project. in progress...Fall 2007

This was a must do painting for me ...
